Bitting Clinics

Any equestrian centres, riding clubs, dressage groups etc. interested in holding a bitting clinic please contact Heather on jonny@nsbits.com ! Distance is not a problem and we only ask for our travelling expenses. Most clubs charge for entry in order to cover this and/or raise funds. We ask for a minimum attendance of 30 heads although we usually find that numbers well exceed this.

Our talks are very interesting, informative and more often than not held in a pub!!!. Although we regularly advise our International Trainers and Riders it is equally as satisfying to help and advise on any level and discipline.

The bitting clinic is a talk on all of the different materials that are used for the mouthpieces and cheeks, etc., including the Neue Schule Salox and the benefits of this.

All of the different designs of mouthpieces, cheeks and bits that are dressage legal are shown including weymouths and snaffles with independent side action and the new ergonomically designed curved lozenge shapes. The pro's and con's of thin and thick mouthpieces, the action of the different cheeks including pelhams and gags, what pressure points we are using in order to attain a certain way of going and what is legal for the various disciplines is also discussed.

Other areas discussed includes the importance of assessing the mouth conformation and finding points of oversensitivity before sourcing a bit, also, how to fit the various types of bits correctly both for height and mouthpiece measurements.

This talk will last for approximately 30 minutes and then we have an open question time where individual case histories are discussed and questions answered.

We bring with us an extensive range of bits for every discipline in various materials. You are more than welcome to approach the table for some touchy, feely and tasting (don’t laugh some people do!!!) At this point I will usually have a pint in my hand and I am more than happy to clarify or discuss anything on a one to one basis

I look forward to seeing some of you in the near future
